Never been to Prep & Pastry? Your time has come.

The hip breakfast and lunch cafe - which opened at Campbell & Fort Lowell on January 2, 2014 - has become a popular spot for family brunch, friend dates, and coworker collaborations.

At Prep, you can select a scrumptious pastry a la carte or opt for one of the delicious menu items - most priced between $8 and $12. Inventive dishes include: sweet potato hash, salmon beni, s'mores french toast, and green eggs and ham.

Breakfast is served from 7am-11am and lunch picks up right after from 11am-3pm. Hours are 7am-3pm on weekdays and 8am-4pm on weekends.

There is also a $5 children's menu with simple offerings - mini pancakes (with fruit), scrambled eggs with toast and fruit, grilled cheese & fries, and PB&J & fries.

As for the atmosphere, Prep & Pastry does modern and casual right - wood beams across the ceiling, chalkboard menus, stained concrete floors, plenty of natural light, and bar seating for easy ordering at The Pastry Shop. Servers in non-matchy button-down shirts greet you with familiarity.

* Good news for east-siders! Prep & Pastry is opening a SECOND location this spring (probably May 2016). You can watch the progress as the building goes up directly adjacent to Zinburger at 6390 E. Grant Rd. The ~2000 square foot restaurant will feature a year-round usable patio with movable windows. Owner Nathan Ares described the design and concept as "pretty rad." Judging from our past experience at P&P, we can attest that his description is bound to be right-on.
