Kneaders Bakery & Café, known for scratch-made artisanal European hearth breads, continues to expand in our city.

A new location - the second in Tucson - will open at the intersection of River and Craycroft on Friday, August 19, 2016. The 3600 sq ft space will be open 7:00am-10:00pm, Mon-Sat (closed on Sundays).

Founded by Gary and Colleen Worthington in 1997, the company prides itself on "using only the highest-quality ingredients to create all menu items, including Kneaders’ famous European hearth breads." Made from scratch at each location, bakers create eleven varieties daily including French Country Sourdough, Rosemary Focaccia, and Hazelnut 12 Grain. Bakers also make their famous Chunky Cinnamon bread daily, which is used to create the restaurant’s celebrated Chunky Cinnamon French toast. The Kneaders menu offers a variety of signature sandwiches including the Turkey Bacon Avocado, Chicken Pesto Panini, and Pastrami Reuben, along with hearty soups and salads, plus more than 42 fresh-made pastries.

We love all that Tucson has to offer – the charm, people and historic sites – and have been looking forward to bringing Kneaders to more Tucsonans for a long time,” said James Worthington, CEO of Kneaders.

To mark the official grand opening of this location, the media and community are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Tucson Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, August 18 at 4:30pm.

The celebration will continue on August 19 and 20 when the first 100 guests who dine in the restaurant will receive a complimentary order of Kneaders famous Chunky Cinnamon French Toast. The Kneaders team has also announced that 10 percent of all grand opening weekend sales will be donated to local schools; another way Kneaders will give back and support the Tucson community.

Note that each Kneaders location offers a unique selection of seasonal and home décor, as well as custom-made gift baskets and drive thru services.

Additionally, all unsold bread from the end of each day will be donated on a regular basis to Casa de Los Niños, a Tucson-based organization that serves children in need.
