Best Places For University of Arizona Parking

The University of Arizona is far more than a campus for college students. It's a place where people go to experience the finest in music, dance, theatre, photography, art, athletics, and academic lectures. There's truly something for everyone at the U of A.

Although there is no free street parking on or around the university campus, you can definitely find a metered or garage parking spot to meet your needs. There are over 200 metered spaces at a rate of $2 per hour. There is no charge for metered University of Arizona parking on weekends and holidays.

There are 10 parking garages on campus: Cherry, Highland, Main Gate, Park, Sixth Street, Tyndall, Second Street, South Stadium, Honors Village (permit only), and Health Sciences. All garages are open 7am to midnight. The rate is $1-$2 per hour with an $5-$16 daily maximum.

Rates for hourly parking in garages and on streets is $2/hr. All of the garages, except Second St., no longer have cashiers, so you can either pay at the gate or at the kiosk. There are also two gateless garages on campus: South Stadium and Highland Ave. After you find a space in these garages, you pay by using the Passport parking app, which requires you to enter your license plate and zone number when purchasing parking. Street parking also uses the Passport parking app and payment is required until 9:00pm, M-F.

Don't forget that taking the Tucson Streetcar is also an excellent option! It's affordable, comfortable, eco-friendly, and fun - plus you'll see more of the city and the university area!

If you're going to the Arizona Stadium

Bear Down for the Arizona Wildcats! Don't let University of Arizona parking keep you from cheering on your favorite football team in red and blue. A number of surface lots and parking garages are available for fans. Note that cash is no longer accepted; credit card payment only. Expect to pay $10, $15, or $20, depending on which lot/garage you choose. The Second Street Garage and Sixth Street Garage are the two closest available options. For more info, see the UA Football Parking Map.

If you're going to Arizona State Museum

Convenient garage parking is available for a small fee on weekdays just one block from the museum at either Euclid Avenue and Second Street (adjacent to the Marriott University Park Hotel) or Euclid Avenue and Fourth Street. Garage parking is free on weekends, except when large, campus-wide events occur such as football and basketball home games and the Tucson Festival of Books.

The closest disabled parking spaces are just north of the north building along James E. Rogers Way (aka North Campus Drive). Contact Visitor Parking at 520-621-3710 or stop by their offices at 1117 E. 6th Street for a UA-specific disabled permit ($8/day), which must be displayed in addition to your state-issued disabled license plate or hang placard.

If you're going to Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium

The first and easiest option for parking at Flandrau is the "yellow curb" along Hawthorne Street on the north side of the building. Free parking passes are available for visitors. That parking tends to fill up fast due to school groups on weekday mornings.

If the yellow curb is full, hourly pay street parkingĀ is available on First Street and Second Street, north of Flandrau. Pay by using the Passport Parking app. Remember that hourly pay street parking is free after 9:00pm and on the weekends!

The two closest UA garages are the Cherry Avenue Garage and the Second Street Garage. Cherry Avenue Garage is $2/hour, max $8 until 5pm. After 5pm, rate is $1/hour. In Second Street Garage, the rate is $2/hr, max $16 until 5pm. After 5pm, rate is $2 the first hour and $1 each additional, max $5.

Flandrau is only one block from the 2nd Street/Cherry Avenue streetcar stop so that's also a great option.

If you're going to Main Gate Square

Park in the Tyndall Parking Garage. Enter from Euclid & Fourth Street for easiest access. All Main Gate Square merchants validate (with a purchase) for the Tyndall garage after 5:00pm, M-F. Saturdays & Sundays (except football Saturdays) are free. During the day, parking is $2.00 per hour...but there is a two-hour parking limit on the first floor in the northwest quadrant.

Parking is also available in the Main Gate garage for $2.00 per hour.

Since Main Gate Square is adjacent to the University, University of Arizona parking is most crowded M-F from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Parking is more readily available after lunch and in the evenings.

If you're going to the University of Arizona Museum of Art

The easiest place to park is in the Park Avenue garage on the NE corner of Park and Speedway. From there, you can walk through the underpass to the museum. Visitors may also prefer to take the streetcar and get off at stop 16 on Second St and Olive. From there, the museum is just a short walk north. Parking is free on Saturdays and Sunday (except football Saturdays); $2 per hour on weekdays. Vans can be accommodated in the garages, but RVs and buses must call University of Arizona Parking & Transportation at 520-621-3710.

For evening events at the museum, you can park in the Zone 1 lot just north of the Park Avenue garage. University of Arizona Parking is free in most lots after 5:00pm; be sure check posted signage for times.

The most crowded times of the days are late mornings during the week (when school is in session). Weekends are the least crowded.

If you're going to UA Centennial Hall

Heading to an Arizona Arts LIVE event or a Broadway show at Centennial Hall? The most convenient parking is the Tyndall Avenue Garage (Euclid Ave at 4th St). There is also parking available in the Main Gate Garage (Euclid Ave at 1st St), as well as street parking on University Blvd and the rest of the Main Gate neighborhood. For anyone needing assistance in getting from Tyndall Garage to Centennial Hall, a free bus is available. Call University of Arizona Parking & Transportation Services at 520-626-7275.
