FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2014
Sixth Annual 4th of July 5K Freedom Run/Walk. Golf Links Sports Complex Ramada #3, 2400 S. Craycroft Rd, Tucson. Registration and bib pick-up begins at 5:30am. Race begins at 6:30am. $20-$30, depending on date of registration.
4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Event in Sierra Vista (approximately 80 minutes from Tucson). 7:00am–9:00pm. Pets & People Promenade, arts & crafts vendors, military displays, fireworks at 8:05pm. Free.
Winterhaven Independence Day Parade. Meet at 7:30am at The Island (center of historic Tucson neighborhood) at the intersection of Christmas Avenue and Kleindale Road. Parade starts at 8:00am. Decorate kid’s bikes and wagons! Pets on leashes or in cages are welcome! Free and open to the public. Guests encouraged to bring potluck goodies to share at the end of the parade. Davis-Monthan 4th of July Celebration. The base pool will host a pool party from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There will be free food and family pool games. Regular pool fees will apply. Shuttle transportation will be located at Heritage Park, Sonoran Science Academy, and Borman Elementary School and will depart at 5:30pm. Following the pool party, Bama Park will open at 6:00pm for pre-firework events, featuring live music by Five Way Street Band and games. Food will be available for purchase from private organizations. A 25-minute firework show is slated to start at 9:00pm. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Pets, coolers, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. In the event of inclement weather, Outdoor Recreation and the base theater will be open for shelter. Shuttle transportation will be in service to take attendees back to the original pick-up locations. Swan Gate will be open after the fireworks for outbound traffic only.
Fourth of July at Children’s Museum Tucson. 200 S. 6th avenue, Tucson. 12:00pm-4:00pm. Celebrate America’s birthday with Children’s Museum Tucson for a special Kidpendence Day! Families will have the opportunity to decorate patriotic hats, participate in a geyser competition, paint fireworks, and more. Regular admission day;children 1 – 99 are$8.
“Let Freedom Sing”. University of Arizona, Centennial Hall, 2010 E. University Blvd., Tucson. 3:00pm. The 30th annual patriotic presentation of Let Freedom Sing will be another heartwarming celebration of our nation’s birthday. Recognition of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Normandy, D-Day, and Presentation of the Colors by Davis Monthan Honor Guard with Recognition of Each Brand of Service. General seating is free (suggested donation of $10/person); reserved seating is $20/person.
4th of July Celebration in Oro Valley. James D. Kriegh Park, 23 W. Calle Concordia, and Oro Valley Aquatic Center. 5:00pm-9:00pm. Live music, bounce house, rock climbing wall, soda toss, watermelon relay, diving board contest, food trucks. Free Admission. $3 for Adults and $1 for Children for use of Oro Valley Aquatic Center.
Four, Four, Four. Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way, Tucson. 4:00pm-7:00pm. Stop by the Gardens on your way to the fireworks where you’ll pay just $4 admission – of course it is free for those under 4! Staff will have the grill sizzling. Bite into a juicy hot dog, chips and a beverage for just $4. “Take your grilled goodies anywhere in the Gardens and enjoy the shady oasis as the perfect start to your Independence Day festivities.”
Marana Star Spangled Spectacular. Crossroads at Silverbell Park, 7548 N. Silverbell Road, Marana. Activities include jumping castles, food vendors, and a country music concert in the park featuring the Greg Spivey Band at 7:00pm. Fireworks at 9:00pm. Free.
Red White & Brew BBQ. Hacienda del Sol, 5501 N. Hacienda del Sol Rd., Tucson. 5:00pm-9:00pm. Local brews, specialty cocktails, great food, live music. $25 for adults; $12.50 for kids (ages 7-14); free for children 6 and under.
Annual 4th of July Event. Hilton El Conquistador, 10000 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson. Gates open at 5:30pm. BBQ Buffet at The Last Territory, 6:00pm-9:00pm. Pre-show music 6:00pm. Live concert 7:00pm. Fireworks display at 9:00pm (approximately 30 minutes). $34 for adults with a hotel reservation; $48 for adults without a hotel reservation. $15 for children with hotel reservation; $20 for children without a hotel reservation. Free for children 4 and under.
Inaugural FC Tucson 4th of July Blast Presented by CenturyLink. The fireworks show will follow FC Tucson’s match against Albuquerque Sol FC on Friday, July 4. The match will kick off at 7:30 pm, with the fireworks scheduled to begin roughly 30 minutes after game concludes. Evening festivities will include concessions and eegee’s for sale, a Youth Soccer Fun Zone, the TMC Mini Ball Goal Explosion, the Pepsi Halftime t-shirt toss, and post-match autograph session. Tickets are $10/person.
‘A’ Mountain Annual Fireworks Celebration. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. Food vendors will be available between 7:00 and 9:00pm. Free public parking at TCC Parking Lot B (entry on Cushing Street between Granada Ave. and Church Street) and Parking Lot C (on Granada Ave between Broadway Blvd and Cushing St). Additional viewing locations include 22nd St Lot at the NE corner of I-10 and Frontage Rd and the City/State Parking Garage. Restrooms will be available from 6:30pm-10:00pm inside the Grand Lobby at the Convention Center.
Spend the night at the Westin La Paloma and enjoy a wide variety of 4th of July activities, including a “mesmerizing laser light show launched over the pools against the majestic backdrop of the Santa Catalina Mountains!” A stunning array of spectrum-spanning laser lights will form patterns and optical illusions in time with uplifting music. Other events throughout the day will include waterslide races, a watermelon eating contest, children’s games, live music, and an All American BBQ Buffet.
