High temperatures are on their way – which means it might be high time to book a staycation at Tucson while the rates dip.
If you’re looking for a resort with a great pool for kids to splash, slide, and swim…you’ve come to the right place!
Here are our picks for the five best hotel pools for kids in the Greater Tucson area.
The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain
Hidden away on 850 acres at the base of the Tortolita Mountains, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain features a championship golf course, three tennis courts, fine dining restaurants, and a fun “activity menu” for the whole family.
The Ritz offers three swimming areas – the Turquesa Pool with Infinity entry, the Aventura Pool with splash pad, and the Spa Serenity Pool (an adults-only venue with a 10-foot tanning island).
At 235′ feet high, The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain ALSO boasts the longest water slide in Tucson! The only restriction for the slide is that you must be at least 42 inches in height.

JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa

Enjoy three nine-hole desert golf courses, a full-service spa, a nightly complimentary tequila toast, and natural trails for hiking + biking.
The resort also offers two swimming areas – an outdoor multi-level pool and the starr canyon lazy river (where you can borrow an inner tube and drift around the circle to your heart’s content). The Monsoon Falls Waterslide offers lots of excitement for all ages (the 175-foot slide plunges into the 85 degree water below!). Little ones can play in the Dancing Springs (a small splash area).
A separate lap pool is also available for a daily fee or with purchase at the spa.

In addition to three championship golf courses, 31 lighted tennis courts, and easy access to hiking, biking, and running trails – the resort offers three glittering pools – a general pool, an adults-only pool, and a children’s pool – PLUS a 143-foot waterslide.
For younger children that don’t meet the 42-inch height requirement of the waterslide, the resort’s children’s pool – “Shallow Springs” – is shaped like a fish with interactive water features in the tail. The pools are open year-round and temperatures are kept 82° – 84°.

La Paloma features five expansive pools.
Yearning for solitude? Choose the exclusive adults-only pool – with Sabino’s Swim-Up Bar & Grill (offering light treats and delicious drinks).
If you want to enjoy shade and privacy, reserve one of the five new sprawling cabanas for an additional fee. The cabanas include a television, ceiling fan, small refrigerator, and four lounge chairs.
Kids + adults can also zip down the resort waterslide – a 177 foot drop that plunges you into the water below.
You must be 42 inches tall to ride the slide + anyone under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult/guardian (18 years or older).

Loews Ventana Canyon offers two heated pools and a jacuzzi. One of the pools is an adults-only lap pool at Lakeside Spa. The other features a graduated entrance and gorgeous mountain backdrops – but no waterslides or splash pads to speak of.
Even so, families will enjoy star-gazing, hiking, playing tennis, and dive-in movies on Saturday nights.

Note that we’d LOVE to see more kid-friendly upgrades to pools at Tucson-area resorts. For example, we’d cheer for these things: (a) a sandy beach, (b) a small waterslide for the preschool and elementary set, and (c) larger splash pad areas [similar to the one at Rancho Sahuarita].
