Book-lovers are probably already familiar with all three of Bookmans’ Tucson locations: at Grant & Campbell, Ina & Thornydale, and Speedway & Wilmot. But, if you haven’t been in a Bookmans in a while, you may be surprised at all they have to offer.
All three locations offer music hours and story time sfor young children, and summer kid events for kids of all ages. Family game nights, weekend video game competitions, poetry readings, author signings, and crafting opportunities are just a few of the fun events they offer. Bookmans also supports literacy, education, and many other worthy causes. And, if you enroll your kids in the Kids’ Club (open from birth to 12 years of age) you’ll get a card giving them 10% off all purchases AND a free $10 gift certificate in the mail during the month of their birthday. The 1317 club offers similar discounts for teenagers.
There are so many things to shop for: books, magazines, comic books, video games, musical instruments, jewelry, knick knacks, DVDs, puzzles, board games…and the list goes on and on. There’s the fact that you can trade in old stuff that you don’t want and get trade credit toward new-to-you things. There are the friendly employees, the casual atmosphere, and, best of all, the fact that you never know just what you’ll find there: whether it’s a collectible figurine, a hard-to-find paperback of your favorite author, or a beanie baby for your toddler.
All three locations are open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. Trade credit never expires and can be used at any of the 6 statewide locations.
Kid events are typically at 10 am, but different locations have them on different days. At the Speedway location, “Mr. Nature” does a great job with music hour on Tuesdays at 10 am, and story time on Friday sat 10 am.
* Full disclosure: I worked at the Speedway location for more than 6 years. But, six months after quitting, I still love it for many reasons!
