Broadway in Tucson brings touring Broadway shows to Tucson six to twelve times each year.

Because Tucson is home to many people who appreciate the arts, these local organizations are able to bring some of the biggest and most popular touring productions to our city.

Past Broadway shows in Tucson have included: Wicked, Disney's The Lion King, Newsies, Annie, Disney's High School Musical, The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, and many more.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Where are Broadway shows performed in Tucson?

Broadway shows were held at Tucson Music Hall from 2004 through 2012. In 2013, Broadway in Tucson entered into a formal relationship with Arizona Arts LIVE (formerly UA Presents) - which moved the location of all future shows to Centennial Hall.

All Broadway in Tucson shows are now staged at Centennial Hall on The University of Arizona campus. The address is: 1020 E. University Blvd, Tucson 85719.

Originally built in 1936 and opened in 1937, Centennial Hall is an 85,000 square foot performing arts facility on the campus of The University of Arizona in downtown Tucson. The theatre has 2,496 seats.

Centennial Hall was last remodeled in 1984 so it's beginning to show signs of wear. The remodel included lighting and mechanical restorations, a new sound system, new fire alarms, and the refurbishment of the majority of the seats. The stage was also renovated at that time, increasing its size from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet.

Which Centennial Hall seats are best for people who are hard of hearing?

Broadway in Tucson offers ASL interpretation for most of the Saturday Matinee performances and Open Caption for the Sunday evening performances. These seats are typically House Right, down front.

Which Centennial Hall seats are best for people with poor vision?

Tickets in the front have the best visual and would be optimal for those with poor vision.

What is the parking situation?

The best garage for parking is Tyndall Avenue Garage.

The parking fee for Centennial Hall events is $4. There is no hourly rate during Centennial Hall events.

Cash is not accepted for parking fees. All fees must be paid by card only (Visa, MC, Discover, AmEx).

Dine at one of the Main Gate restaurants and receive a Main Gate merchant validation for free parking in Tyndall Garage. Tell the fee collector you are dining on University and you will receive a ticket to take with you for validation.

Note that the merchant validation is ONLY available at Tyndall Avenue Garage. This is not honored in back-up parking garages such as Main Gate or Sixth Street.

The Tyndall Avenue Garage has a 7' 0'' clearance height for vehicles.

OTHER PARKING OPTIONS & TIPS

If the Tyndall Garage is full, back-up parking can be found at the Main Gate Garage or Sixth Street Garage (also on-campus at the University of Arizona).

You may also opt to take the Tucson Streetcar to Centennial Hall. The 3.9-mile route has a stop within walking distance of the theatre.

What should I wear?

Centennial Hall is indoors with heating in the winter and air-conditioning in the summer. Dress varies depending on the event, but Tucson is generally very casual. That being said, many people do opt to dress up for Broadway performances.

What should I bring with me?

  1. Cash/credit for parking, food, & drinks.
  2. A light sweater or shawl.
  3. A water bottle. Note that open water bottles are not permitted at Centennial Hall.

Any bags or purses must be smaller than 12x12x6.

Can I take photos during the performance?

Audience members are not permitted to take pictures inside the theatre.

Are bathrooms available?

Yes. There are men's and women's restrooms available in the lobby at Centennial Hall. Portapotties are sometimes also set up outside the theatre to expedite the process during intermission.

What are the box office hours at Centennial Hall?

The box office is located at the front of the Hall and its hours are:

  • Tuesday-Friday: 12:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Saturday: 12:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Sunday and Monday: Closed

The box office is also open two hours prior to all ticketed performances.

How much do single tickets cost to Broadway shows?

Each event has its own ticket prices. Single tickets range from $35-$125 for most Broadway shows. Military members typically receive $5 off for most seating sections (except Gold).

Are season passes available for Broadway in Tucson shows?

Yes! Season ticket packages start at $214, which includes 6 productions.

Does Centennial Hall offer discounted tickets the day of the performance if the performance is not sold out?

Rush tickets are occasionally offered for shows on the day of, but these are usually made available to students on the University of Arizona campus first. Call the box office to inquire.

Are all "Broadway in Tucson" productions put on by touring companies?

Yes. They are national touring Broadway productions that travel throughout the United States.

Are local actors ever part of Broadway shows?

No, they are not.

Are local auditions held for Broadway shows? If so, how might an actor (child or adult) find out about them?

Broadway in Tucson does not hold local auditions. All shows are performed by actors and actresses who are touring across the USA.

Is outside food allowed?

Outside food and beverages are not permitted.

Does Centennial Hall have a restaurant?

No, but food and drinks are available for purchase. More information is coming soon.

What restaurants are located NEAR Centennial Hall?

You're in luck! There are gads of terrific restaurants in the downtown area and in Main Gate Square. Try one of the following restaurants before or after a show (all are within a 3-mile radius of Centennial Hall):

The UA Student Union is also within walking distance and the UA Library hosts a Starbucks (which closes at 10:00pm).

BABIES & KIDS

Do babies/toddlers attend free?

No, they do not. Each person in attendance must have a ticket.

How old should a child be to see a Broadway show?

Broadway in Tucson recommends that children be ages 5 or older to attend shows. Note, however, that many shows have mature content and are not appropriate for children.

As far as seating for young children goes, Centennial Hall offers free booster seats (first-come, first-served). Row N is where the seats start to rake, and the raised seats allow for a slightly better view for young children.

Are discounted tickets available for children/students?

Yes. Discounts are available in most seating areas (except Gold). The discount for children/students is typically $10 off the regular price.

Does Broadway in Tucson offer student matinee performances for school/homeschool groups?

There are no school performances of Broadway shows at this time.

Can I plan my child’s birthday party around a Broadway play?

Sure! Find a kid-friendly Broadway show, purchase tickets for your group, and you'll have a readymade birthday party. Before or after the show, head downtown for ice cream at HUB or The Screamery!
