The Children’s Museum Tucson is opening their doors for free on Saturday January 5, 2013, thanks to an anonymous donor. The Children’s Museum is one of the sites for the upcoming, BEYOND Main Event: “Together We MOVE!” where children and their families will celebrate health and wellness from noon to 4 p.m.
A local benefactor, touched by the recent tragedy in Newtown, CT, approached the Museum about the opportunity to honor the memories of the children and offered to sponsor a “day of play” for the community.
All guests will receive a green ribbon to wear in honor of the anonymous donor who underwrote their visit to the Museum. Children will also receive a Ben’s Bells Kindness Coin along with the ribbon.
The ribbon is a call for guests to “pay it forward” with a random act of kindness and they will be asked to wear the ribbon until they have performed their individual act of kindness. Children will also be able to paint a kindness coin that will be distributed by Ben’s Bells to others.
At the free BEYOND event Saturday, Museum staff will introduce their new fitness-geared Wee Wiggle programming. Wee Wiggle is an extension of Wee Move, allowing children (four and under) and their parents to explore the importance of exercise in an open play environment.
In addition to the Museum’s many health and wellness interactive exhibits, kids and grown-ups can enjoy jumping castles, the YMCA rock wall and learn more from onsite event participants TreeHouse Farms, Butterfly Heart Books, and Ben’s Bell’s Project.
Stories that Soar, Children Carrying the Sound, and Tucson Twist-Its will also be performing.
