Built in 2009 to honor fallen Tucson Police Department Officer Erik Hite, Erik Hite Family Park is open to the general public.
LOCATION: 10111 E. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85748 on the campus of Saguaro Canyon Church
FEATURES: The park encompasses a playground, large grassy area, patio, and small amphitheater.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: The play structure includes multiple slides, climbing features, a steering wheel, swinging bars, and slide poles. A large shade sail covers the area and the surface beneath is rubberized mulch. Nearby is a sandpit with both standard and infant swing sets.
PICNIC AREA: Although there are no designated picnic structures, there are benches throughout the park and the grassy hill is suitable for a blanket-style picnic.
FACILITIES: Parking is convenient and plentiful. The church bathrooms, water fountains, and trash receptacles are available for public use.
MAINTENANCE: The park and surrounding landscaping are immaculately maintained. The metal and plastic playground equipment is in good repair.
EXTRAS: Erik Hite Park boasts gorgeous mountain views, a hospitable pastor, and handy proximity to the 5 mile Old Spanish Trail multi-use path.
