Have you been to Second Saturdays downtown recently?

Tucson Native Billy Shaw Jr is Arizona’s go-to award-winning Country Music entertainer for classics, contemporary, southern rock & originals. His signature black-framed glasses scream mild-mannered Clark Kent, but when he puts bow to fiddle, he transforms into a Country Music Superman. By day Billy is a patient yet outgoing geek. At night, the virtuoso transforms an unassuming stage with his unique Soulful Southwestern Rock Country sound influenced by Charlie Daniels, Kenny Rogers, and Bob Wills.

As a shy fourth grader, the musician-in-training focused on classical violin style. In college, Billy expanded his musical repertoire to include guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, harmonica, and a mean tambourine.

Through Church Shaw realized he enjoyed singing and found his true calling when he took the stage at a karaoke contest. A few contest wins later, he joined a band. 10 years down the road, his strings and vocals have been heard across his hometown with a number of groups. In 2016after winning Cumulus Radio’s Nash Next Country Star locally, he went on to place Top 5 in the Nation and then started his namesake band. The Billy Shaw Jr Band has quickly become one of the most highly sought-after acts in town and continued the winning tradition as Arizona’s 2017Nash Next Winner as well as other awards including a spot at the Nova Arizona Bowl. The Billy Shaw Jr Band can be seen as the Official After Party band of Fiesta de Los Vaqueros for over 5years and have opened for Oak Ridge Boys, Lauren Alaina, Thompson Square, Ronnie Milsap, Ray Scott, and Triston Marez. Billy Shaw Jr’s self-titled debut album will be available in early 2023!!!

Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980)
Raised in rural Kentucky poverty and married at the age of 13, Loretta Lynn (Sissy Spacek) begins writing and singing her own country songs in her early 20s. With the tireless help of her husband Oliver “Mooney” Lynn (Tommy Lee Jones), Loretta rises from local honky-tonks and small-time record deals to national tours and hit singles, befriending her idol Patsy Cline (Beverly D’Angelo) and becoming a country music icon despite the toll stardom takes on her family and her marriage.
