Bike to the Farmers Market at Rillito Park
April 15, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Heirloom Farmers Markets is teaming up with Living Streets Alliance to celebrate cyclists, local food, and sustainability!
Located just off of The Loop bike path between First Avenue and Campbell Avenue, Rillito Park is easily accessible by bike. Take the paved bike path to the farmers market to fuel up with a cup of locally roasted coffee, fill up with locally grown produce, and enjoy live music from The French Quarter before you head off to explore the recently completed 131-miles of vehicle-free trails on the The Loop bike path. You’ll have plenty to explore on the newly completed bike path, which connects Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, and South Tucson. Bike to the Farmers Market is making it easy to fuel up and hit the trails!
On April 15th, you can forget about bike racks, U-locks, and the safety of your two-wheeled friend and spend more time celebrating with fellow cyclists and food lovers. Thanks to a free bike valet operated by Living Streets Alliance and sponsored by locally owned and operated Blue Dog Bicycles, it’s now more convenient than ever to participate in Bike to the Farmers Market! Living Streets Alliance––the same organization that brings you Cyclovia––will manage a secure bike valet during the event. Simply hand your bike over to their trained staff when you arrive, take time to enjoy the festivities, and retrieve it when you’re ready to leave.
Speaking of festivities, you won’t want to miss the live entertainment, free swag, and family-friendly festivities at this year’s Bike to the Farmers Market event. To thank you for biking to the market, vendors and community partners are offering deals and activities all day long. Simply mention how far you rode to receive a refreshing cup of iced tea from Transit Tea Company and be sure to look for bright green bike signs throughout the market to find deals from a variety of other local vendors.
Bike to the Farmers Market isn’t just for adults––it’s for everyone! Bring the kids in your life to enjoy children’s activities provided by Tucson Village Farm. Come prepared to take home bike swag, maps to help you navigate all 131 miles of The Loop, and local goodies from Pima County Bicycle & Pedestrian Program and Local First Arizona.
Bike to the Farmers Market also marks the kickoff to Heirloom Farmers Markets summer hours–starting April 12th, the markets at Trail Dust Town, Steam Pump Ranch, and Rillito Park will run from 8:00am to 12:00pm so that customers can enjoy better shopping weather during southern Arizona’s warmest months. Bike over to Rillito Park on April 15th to enjoy warmer weather, sustainable transportation, and locally grown food at Bike to the Farmers Market!
