About the Lecture:

UA Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Michael Dohm will discuss the operative and non-operative treatment of joint disease, including evidence, outcome and value of current surgical and non-surgical treatments. He will discuss evidence on both the development and prevention of arthritis as well as the history of joint replacement surgery and the application of patient-reported and functional outcomes to joint replacement. Current treatment guidelines, along with a Consumer Reports approach to the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical intervention, will also be presented. Medical care and the importance of rehabilitation and nutrition in the operative and non-operative processes of treating joint-related conditions will also be discussed.
