You are invited to join Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 1 Council Member Lane Santa Cruz, and Tucson Parks and Recreation as they break ground on the City's newest park - Barrio Nopal Park, located at 311 E. Elvira Road. The event will take place on Friday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m.
The new park will feature a variety of amenities designed to enhance the community's outdoor experience. These include a new splash pad area with above and below pad spray amenities, a shade structure, playground, and restrooms. Additionally, the park will include a new walking path, ramadas, benches, and lighting. A new parking lot and accessible entrance will be located on the south end of the park, ensuring that the park is easily accessible to all members of the community.
Funding for the project has been secured through a combination of Tucson Delivers Great Parks + Strong Connections 2018 voter-approved general obligation bonds and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public and all community members are invited to attend.
