Shop for unique and locally made artisanal crafts and original artwork at the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block’s 32nd Annual Holiday Artisans Market.
More than 100 artisans will display and sell crafted pottery, glass, jewelry, textiles, fine art, and gift items during the three-day event on the TMA campus at 140 N. Main Ave. There will also be a beer and wine garden, and a pop-up café presented by Café a la C’Art all three days in the museum’s lobby. The event includes a Family Fun Garden with arts and crafts stations and demonstrations for visitors to view, including glassworks, printmaking, henna, caricatures, and face painting. Yoga sessions and live music are also scheduled during the event. The new Museum Store is open in its new location, the John K Goodman Pavilion.
El Nacimiento, a longstanding Tucson tradition, will open in La Casa Cordova. It is a beloved miniature Mexican village scene with nativity scenes interwoven in the landscape. El Nacimiento was created over a period of 30 years by folk artist Maria Luisa Tena.
Visitors can experience the museum’s new and renovated galleries which opened on October 21 with reinstalled collection galleries and two new feature exhibitions, Dress Matters: Clothing as Metaphor, which examines clothing in art as symbols of power and identity, and Desert Dweller, which celebrates historic and contemporary Southern Arizona retailers as the curators and visionaries of local style.
