International Science Day at Flandrau
November 10, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 10:00 pm$8
For this year’s “International Science Center Day,” general admission to Flandrau will be free to everyone. Planetarium Shows will be regular price ($8 for adults, $6 for kids). To make this a special day, Flandrau has organized extra programs and activities. Several UA student clubs will offer fun hands-on science activities, including groups from Chemistry and Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Nutritional Science, and Physics. Flandrau’s student staff will also provide other popular space science activities. The special activities will be available from 1-4pm.
Flandrau will also be presenting, for the very first time, a “domecast” lecture in the Eos Planetarium Theater. This technology transmits a lecture to our fulldome digitial projection system, so that the imagery appears on the entire dome at Flandrau as it is presented “live” (in real time) from the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. This will be part of the Kavli Fulldome Lecture Seriesproduced in partnership with the Kavli Foundation. This lecture will is titled “The Cosmos In A Heartbeat” and will be given by Dr. Shane Larson, Research Associate Professor, Northestern Universiy and the Associate Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA). Admission to the special domecast lecture is only $2!
For Flandrau members only, all planetarium shows (and the Kavli Fulldome Lecture) will be free all day!
