The orchestra began performing concerts in 1955 on the back of a flatbed truck and has grown to include 50 professional musicians with audiences ranging from 3,000 to 8,000 people attending each concert.

The Tucson Pops Orchestra’s programs are a result of incorporating many styles and genres. Music programs feature original compositions, music from classics like The Sound of Music, more recent classics such as music from the movie Gladiator, children’s music such as London Bridge is Falling Down, ragtime, waltzes, concertos, big band compositions, and even music from pop icons like Stevie Wonder. Guest artists include trombonists, vocalists, mariachi bands, violinists, and trumpeters.
