CARE Classes Fall 2018
Moms Class (Registration for this class ends Oct 2.)
This two-semester class teaches moms how to love and discipline their children as God loves and disciplines us. Each week you will spend time as a group with pertinent teaching by Barb, who will make you laugh as she teaches parenting fundamentals and the blunders we all make as moms.
You will also spend time in small groups for discussion. Fellow moms will become your lifeline as
you learn and grow in your mothering skills throughout the year.
Led by Barb Tompkins
Spanish Moms Class
This class also teaches the principles of Christian marriage and parenting, but in Spanish.
You will learn how to be a better mom and how to raise your children with Christ’s love.
Led by Arelys Navarrete
Let’s study a very special gospel, written by the physician, historian, and companion of Paul. Would you like to know “the exact truth about the things you have been taught” about Jesus? Luke carefully investigated the events of Christ’s life, and wrote an accurate account.
Led by Marilyn Reiter
Raising Teens in a Contrary Culture
Using the Bible and Mark Gregston’s latest DVD-based study and workbook, we’ll discuss key topics for keeping communications and relationships strong as we fight for our teens’ hearts and attention. Discussion topics include recalibrating your parenting style, understanding current cultural pressures, coming alongside your struggling teen, and using technology to your advantage. Grab hold of the Lord’s hand and join us as we learn together! This class is limited to 12 people.
Led by Erin Maxwell & Becca Simons
Entrusted: A Study of 2 Timothy (author Beth Moore)
How can God use you at this stage of your life? Are you a Mom of young children, or teens, or transitioning as an empty nester or retiree? Or are you still questioning whether you believe all this stuff about Jesus? Let’s look at Scripture that challenges us to respond to God’s call on our lives no matter what stage we’re in. In the same way Paul mentored Timothy, we will encourage one another on this journey and delve deeply into gospel stories that give us personal insights into what God desires of us right now in the midst of life. God has entrusted us with a gift so precious and life-giving. Let’s receive it, treasure it, and share it right where we are in life.
Led by Genetta Holt, with Judie Simpson & Jacque Calkins
Sitting with Jesus
As women, our lives are beautifully full. Our heart’s desire is to grow in intimacy with Jesus,
yet there is so much that draws our attention away. In this class, you will be given the gift of time. Time to sit with Him alone. Time spent in worship, prayer and sharing with one another. We will create a space to grow in intimacy with our God, as we come alongside and encourage each other on our individual faith journeys. This class is limited to 6 people.
Led by Leslie Johnson & Colleen Werbylo
FOR HOME-SCHOOLED KIDS, K-8th grades
Kids in the Life of Faith Book Club discover what a book has to say, and discuss chapters they read at home. They make new friends, enjoy adventures together, and create imaginative crafts. And they play fun games! Every activity is designed to enhance the books we read and inspire kids in their relationship with God. Book Club fee is $25 for each child (for the CARE year), and helps cover the cost of materials. Books are an additional $10 each semester.
