Preview the Great American Read at Murphy-Wilmot Library

May 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join Murphy-Wilmot Library for a preview screening and discussion of Arizona Public Media’s The Great American Read! and help us choose America’s best-loved novel!

The eight-part PBS series explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (chosen in a national survey). It investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.

A conversation about books and reading, moderated by Arizona Spotlight host Mark McLemore, will follow the preview screening. McLemore’s guests will be Karen Greene of Pima County Public Library, Betty Stauffer of Literacy Connects, and Niamh Wallace of the University of Arizona Libraries.

The program is free, but seating is limited and registration is required. For tickets* go to Arizona Public Media The Great American Read to register. For more information, call 520-621-5828.

*Please note: Ticket does not guarantee a seat.
