On December 7, 1941 the USS Arizona (BB-39) was struck by Japanese bombers during the attack on Pearl Harbor. A massive explosion followed, killing approximately 1,177 officers and crewman aboard the ship. In honor of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Veterans Education and Transition Services in partnership with Online, Distance and Continuing Education at the University of Arizona is hosting two events:
December 9, 2023 - 5K Run and Walk (w/ virtual option)
November 11, 2023 to December 7, 2023 - 39 Mile Virtual Challenge
VETS was created to provide a comprehensive set of services to ensure veteran students transition successfully to the university environment, are retained, graduate, and obtain meaningful employment. The University provides great support in these efforts. Online, Distance, and Continuing Education is instrumental in providing support to the nearly 2,000 military connected students in our online and distance programs. The University of Arizona is ranked # 4 by Military Times Best for Vets Rankings while Arizona Online is ranked #5 by U.S. News and World Report’s Best Online Bachelor’s Program for Veterans and Best College in Arizona for Veterans among National Universities.
This is a free family event. The first 100 participants will receive a commemorative medal.
