Saguaro: A Desert Giant at Sabino Canyon

January 13, 2024 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free With Paid Admission

What has arms, ribs, and can go two years without a drink? It’s the saguaro, the largest cactus in the United States and a symbol of the American southwest. This one hour, one-half-mile walk starts at the Visitor Center pavilion and is for anyone who wants to learn about this human-looking, tree-like giant. The walk includes ten stops, with nine of them on the Bajada Loop Nature Trail, and ends not far from the shuttle station. The walking surface is flat, so this short “hike” is good for kids and people with mobility issues, plus those who want to learn about an amazing Sonoran Desert icon.

Meet at the flagpole in front of the Visitor Center.
