Snapshot Memoir Writing Workshop at Main Library
October 8, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
When we study old pictures up close and consider the details—facial expressions, environment, and composition—long-forgotten stories creep back. In this class, you will capture those memories by practicing ‘flash creative nonfiction,’ the shortest form of memoir-writing. Simple exercises will help you begin to transform photographic stories into a brief, potent essay.
Includes a short lecture, writing practice, and discussion. For all adult writers.
*Please bring three of your older, printed family photographs–any size– that stand out to you for particular reasons. These will likely picture you and/or your close family members. All photos should have a strong personal significance to you and be at least 10 years old. Black and white or color photos work equally well.
