Stone Carving for Youth at Himmel Park Library

June 8, 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

Have fun while learning about rocks, what they are made of, and how we classify them. Rocks and minerals play a valuable role in nature such as providing soil nutrients and habitat for animals in the Sonoran Desert. Students will learn about the rock cycle and explore examples of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Older kids and teens will learn to shape and polish a piece of alabaster stone to take home. All materials provided.

Supplies limited; free tickets will be available at 3:00 pm at the front desk.

Presented by Watershed Management Group's Family Saturday Team
