The rise of Modern art in the American Southwest developed in the early twentieth century in New Mexico and expanded when a collective of essential artists, primarily based in Taos, New Mexico, sparked a new artistic energy of abstraction during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Heavily influenced by the landscape and cultural heritage of the region, the transformative artists established a new creative course based on experimentation and innovation. In celebration of a recent significant gift of New Mexico Modern art from Donald L. and Julia B. Graf, TMA invites you to an evening supporting the Tucson Museum of Art.
The night begins with a 1950s inspired social hour where guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine, peruse the silent and live auction items while being entertained by the University of Arizona Jazz Ensemble led by Dr. Angelo Versace. From there, attendees will transition to the museum plaza for an alfresco dinner delectably crafted by the museum’s award-winning Café a la C’art. Additional highlights of this highly anticipated annual event include a silent and live auction featuring art, jewelry, and experiences, unique performances throughout the evening, and commencing with an extraordinary announcement.
