Tucson Pops Orchestra Concert at Reid Park

An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Sunday, repeating until September 29, 2019
September 8 – Guest conductor Andy Wade will conduct the orchestra in the first half that includes a variety of crowd pleasers including Mission Impossible, the Marriage of Figaro, George Gershwin. The second half will be conducted by Maestro Veres with the orchestra performing the ever- popular score from Lion King, a medley of Show Stoppers, and more.
September 15 – Guest Conductor Khris Dodge will conduct the first half of the concert. The highly regarded Tucson Boys Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Julian Ackerly, will perform a medley of their most popular songs including Rider in the Sky, Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around, and more.
September 22 – Orchestra soloists Michael Fan, violin – Joseph Pagan, viola who will perform Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola. In addition to selections from Carousel and Ragtime selections, the orchestra will play a sampler of some of the greatest Opera arias including Prelude to Act I from La Traviata by Verdi, Coro de Mattadori Spagnuoli fr. La Traviata by Verdi, and Nessun Dorma fr. Turandot by G. Puccini.
September 29- In the closing concert of the 2019 season, the Orchestra will perform Jerome Robbins Broadway, selections from Finian’s Rainbow, Marvin Hamlisch in Concert, and more. Tucson Pops cellist Anne Gratz will perform The Swan from Carnival of the Animals by C. Saint-Saens and Tucson Pops Bassoon player Jessica Campbell will perform The Old Grumbly Bear by J. Fučík.
