Vegrandis at The Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures
September 30, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm$125
Vegrandis 2017 – the Grandest of Galas – will coincide with Part I of The Mini Time Machine Museum’s Fall exhibit of recently acquired one-quarter-life-size Historical Figures created by artist-historian, George Stuart. Taking a cue from these lavishly costumed Historical Figures from antiquity through the twentieth century, the event will feature worldly décor, food, and entertainment.
Proceeds from Vegrandis 2017 will be designated for the museum’s newly established Acquisitions Fund. This fund will enable the museum to better preserve the miniatures with which they have already been entrusted, but will also open pathways for meaningful growth and diversification.
Carte Blanche Catering will bring exotic tastes to the museum with food stations sprinkled throughout the galleries. Nibble on Chicken Shawarma with Charred Sweet Peppers and Onions alongside Saffron, Date, and Almond Basmati Rice served with Watermelon-Feta Salad with Marinated Olives and Preserved Lemons; Beef and Lamb Meatballs Baked in Tahini accompanied by Tomato-Pomegranate Salad with Feta, Mint, and Za’atar; Crispy Saffron Couscous Cakes with Feta and Tomato Chutney and Assorted Mini Pastries including Orange Almond Polenta Cake, Pistachio Shortbread, Mini Lemon-Glazed Apricot, Walnut, and Lavendar Cakes, Chocolate Truffle Bites and Assorted Baklava.
Guests will be dramatically greeted by the sounds of bagpipe from Tucson Musicians Museum Inductee, William W. Don Carlos, performing in traditional Scottish attire, followed by a serenade of arias by Dr. Stephanie, M. Don Carlos, an enchanting soprano donned in 19th century garb. Throughout the evening, guests will also enjoy vignettes by performers from Belly Dance Tucson in exotic dress and spirited Russian folk performances by the colorfully costumed Arizona Balalaika Ensemble.
Two game stations in the galleries will offer additional opportunities for merriment and the chance to win fabulous prizes.
Attire inspired by the Historical Figures presented in the exhibit (or the era or location they came from) is encouraged.
