Voices of Vail Documentary at The Loft Cinema

September 22, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

$15

The Voices of Vail documentary will be playing at the loft theater on Sunday, September 22, 2019. This is a local documentary about the history of Vail, Arizona. Voices of Vail is the recipient of the 2018 Show Low Film Festival audience choice award, 2019 Pima County Heritage Award, and the 2019 Governors Heritage Preservation Award. This award-winning documentary is produced by the Vail Preservation Society and brought to the silver screen by local film makers Dennis Farris and Gerald Lamb with support from Arizona Humanities and dedicated volunteers.

The strength of the film is the historic diverse groups that influenced this area over time from the Tohono O’odham who initially roamed on the land, miners, ranchers, and the affects of the railroad that was built by experienced Chinese railroad workers and the railroad chain gangs and their families.

The 1908 Old Vail Store & Post Office, featured in the film, was the hub for ranchers, miners, and railroad families. All ticket sales will support the rehabilitation of this historic pre-statehood adobe building to be used by the current Vail Community.
