For the past four years, UA Bookstores has hosted a Tea Time with an American Girl Author on-site at the Tucson Festival of Books. As one of the only ticketed events at the festival, the event is geared to girls (ages 8-12) and includes a light brunch, crafts, and a special speaking and signing appearance by an American Girl author.
Jessie Haas, author of the American Girl “Saige” series, will be speaking at the 2024 event.
1. What is the date and location of the 2014 American Girl Tea Time?
The 2014 Tea Time with an American Girl Author will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 10:30am in the North Ballroom of the Student Union on the campus of the University of Arizona. The address is 1303 E. University Blvd.
2. What is the cost?
$20 per person. The same price applies for children and adults.
3. How many people are expected to attend?
The UA Bookstores predicts that there will be approximately 250 attendees.
Attendees will gather and enjoy tea and snacks on their table. There will be two craft activities (jewelry making and a hot air balloon craft) and a special speaking and signing appearance by Jessie Haas, author of the American Girl “Saige” series. There will also be a raffle and each girl will receive an American Girl Book.
6. Should girls bring their dolls with them?
Girls are welcome to dress up and to bring their dolls.
7. Will attendees have an opportunity to take photos?
There are many opportunities to take photos and people can take advantage of the Saige-theme decorated North Ballroom to do so.
8. Who is catering the menu?
The tea service will include hot tea for the adults, cold beverages for the kids, as well as tea sandwiches and pastries.
9. What is the duration of the event?
The Tea Time will last approximately 1.5 hours.
10. Will American Girl dolls + merchandise be available for purchase at the tea?
Merchandise will not be for sale, however a book will be distributed to each girl.
11. Who does the tea benefit?
UA BookStores have subsidized the cost of the event every year as ticket sales do not cover the actual costs of the event.
