Bite Nite, a benefit event for the Arizona Chapter of the ALS Association, will take place in Tucson on Saturday, September 6th at The Westin la Paloma Resort and Spa from 6 to 10pm. New to Tucson, Bite Nite has been one of the organization’s most successful fundraisers in Phoenix since 2008. Showcasing culinary creations from 10 of Tucson’s best chefs, Bite Nite guests are invited to enjoy a great evening of fabulous food, wines, craft beers and live entertainment as well as a live and silent auction with culinary prizes including gift cards/certificates to participating restaurants, special mystery boxes with chef tables, wine dinners, and more.
ALS Arizona Chapter Executive Director Taryn Norley and the board of directors, felt the time was right for this event to have a Tucson presence. “ALS is a disease that knows no boundaries – the need for support is everywhere. We are currently assisting 70 patients in Tucson and Southern Arizona. The warm welcome we have received from Tucson Chefs and sponsors has been gratifying. We are looking forward to a wonderful event.”
Co-chairs of Bite Nite are Russell Michel, Executive Chef for Westin La Paloma and Jack Volz, owner of Premier Medical Group. Participating restaurants to date includes Azul @ La Paloma, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, The Coronet, Nox Kitchen & Cocktails, Hacienda del Sol, and Metzger Family Restaurants (Poppy Kitchen, Gio Taco, Jackson Tavern).
Event Sponsors include: Numotion, Philips Respironics, Permobil, Ability Center, National Bank of Arizona, Walgreens, and Sonoran Brewery.
The ALS Association Arizona Chapter provides services and support to patients suffering from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The ALS Association is the only national nonprofit devoted solely to the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease on all fronts. These include patient and family services and programs, community outreach, and research. ALS is 100% fatal with no known cause, cure, or effective treatment. Upon diagnosis, patients have only 2-5 years to live, and expenses for living with ALS average $200,000 annually. The chapter was established in 1991 and currently serves 350 patients annually throughout Arizona.
