Pima Community College Theatre Arts proudly presents the heartwarming family play “The Trumpet of the Swan.” Based on the book by renowned children’s author E.B. White, the play follows the moving story of Louis, a swan born without the ability to make a sound.
“Deeply concerned for his son’s well being, Louis’ father steals a trumpet from a music store to give his son a voice. Louis goes out into the world searching for a way to pay back his father’s debt. He meets a young boy named Sam who teaches him to read and write. Louis eventually overcomes his shyness and travels to many new places. Through his many adventures, he overcomes his fear of being different, makes new friends, discovers his talents, and falls in love.”
Director Mickey Nugent remarked, “Louis is a doer and a survivor. I want the kids in the audience to not only enjoy the laughs and sweet family values, but also to know that everyone has the ability to persevere and conquer their fears, disabilities, and inabilities.”
The play appeals to all ages, and Nugent hopes to inspire not only the young people, but also the adults in the audience.
