Resort Report: Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort Tucson

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is a luxury resort tucked into the Catalina Mountains in northeast Tucson. The intimate property features fine dining, tennis, pickleball, golf, hiking access, and spectacular desert landscaping.

The most impressive aspect of this Loews resort is the location - with access to Arizona's unique desert plants and wildlife. You'll get an up close look at magnificent cacti, blooming wildflowers, striking rock formations, and - if you keep your eyes open - hummingbirds, butterflies, great-horned owls, birds of all kinds, and other animals that call the Sonoran desert home.

ROOMS

Guest rooms feature a modern color palette, centered around charcoal gray and lovely lilac with complimentary accent colors. Perhaps the best amenity is that each guest room boasts a gargantuan tub - perfect for a relaxing soak at the end of an active day.

DINING

If your stomach rumbles, you can satisfy your hunger at Flying V (serving up dinner with water views) or Canyon Cafe (a breakfast and lunch spot with indoor & outing seating, overlooking the pool and mountains). If you stay over a weekend, we highly recommend the Blues, Brews & BBQ Brunch, which is available every Sunday from 11:00am-2:00pm.

You may also choose to pick up groceries at nearby Bashas or Whole Foods (both are about 11min away) if a more casual meal is your style. A mini refrigerator is available in all guest rooms.

ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

On-site activities include two swimming pools (one suitable for laps), a jacuzzi, three lighted tennis courts, two lighted pickleball courts, two 18-hole golf courses with pristine lawns, a fitness center, a 1/2-mile nature trail that leads to an 80-foot waterfall, a ping pong table, and access to the Ventana Canyon Trail (a 2.5 mile hike).

KID-FRIENDLY

Upon arrival, children under ten receive a complimentary "Loews Loves Families" Welcome Gift.

The littlest visitors will enjoy feeding the fish at Koi Pond (free fish food in the lobby!) and participating in some of the resort activities, which are listed on a calendar upon check-in.

The sparkling salt water pool offers appeal to all ages - especially during the summer when kids will enjoy various poolside activities during the day and dive-in movies when the sun goes down. Unfortunately, there are no water amenities that are typical of a resort in this category (waterslides, lazy river, splash pad, etc).

Adventurous Eater Menus

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort believes kids’ menus don’t need to be elementary in flavor. The new Adventurous Eaters programming focuses on giving children the opportunity to expand their palates and explore destinations through regional cuisine. At the resort’s signature Flying V Bar & Grill, young diners can enjoy signature menu items beyond traditional kid fare with age-appropriate serving sizes, such as a Grilled Filet Mignon, served with overnight black beans, jumbo asparagus, and chimichurri.

Mindful that food quality and flavor is important for guests of all ages, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort has also partnered with Little Spoon, the award-winning leader in the direct-to-consumer kids food space, to offer a range of products from baby's first bites to big kid years. Two of Little Spoon’s most popular pureed meals (Spinach, Mango, Banana, Hemp and Kale, Avocado, Apple, Chia) are available at the resort’s Canyon Club restaurant and on its in-room dining menu.
