Located just south of State Farm Stadium at VAI Resort, Mattel Adventure Park is scheduled to open in Glendale, Arizona in 2024. Welcoming guests 365 days a year, the park will serve as a year-round Arizona entertainment destination, showcasing the full spectrum of the iconic toymaker’s expansive portfolio of brands.
The uniquely designed, 9-acre park will be substantially indoors, which will be especially appealing in the simmering summer months when temperatures can climb over 100 degrees. The park’s attractions will load and unload inside a fully air-conditioned space, making the park a comfortable, family-friendly destination at any time of year.
Among the most highly anticipated rides at Mattel Adventure Park will be two fully themed Hot Wheels rollercoasters - Hot Wheels Bone Shaker™ and the Hot Wheels Twin Mill™ Racer. Designed to delight kids and adults of all ages, the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker themed ride will be the first-ever family coaster to feature the hot rod’s skull design, climbing 84 feet in the air. The Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer will have a double loop and two corkscrews, qualifying it as the first coaster of its kind in Arizona.
While these and other Hot Wheels-themed attractions promise full-throttle fun for race enthusiasts of all ages, there is also plenty in store for park guests from other favorite Mattel brands, including:
What is the projected opening date?
Mattel Adventure Park will open in 2024!
Is Mattel Adventure Park the only theme park in Arizona?
Sort of. Mattel Adventure Park will be the first larger scale amusement park in Arizona.
Castles 'N Coasters in central Phoenix would be the closest competition. This outdoor mini golf center and amusement park has four outdoor 18-hole miniature golf courses, several rides (go karts, bumber boats, carousel, bumper cars, log ride), and an indoor video game arcade.
How will Mattel Adventure Park compare in size to Southern California theme parks?
Mattel Adventure Park is reported to be 9 acres while Knott's Berry Farm is 57 acres. Disneyland (as a whole) covers 500+ acres but the theme parks themselves come in at 85 acres (Disneyland) and 72 acres (California Adventure). Similarly, Universal Studios Hollywood spans 415 acres with the theme park itself being around 80 acres.
These comparisons help to keep expectations in check as Mattel Adventure Park will be significantly smaller while offering great family fun options for Arizona families.
Are there other Mattel theme parks in other parts of the country?
No. Mattel Adventure Park will be the first theme park by the brand and we are excited that Mattel chose Arizona to make its official debut!
