I grew up in Texas, but my grandparents lived in Tucson, and every time we came for a visit my grandma would take me to the Wilmot library and let me use her library card to check out a few books. It’s funny because the Wilmot library looks exactly the same as it did 25 years ago on the outside – but it was fully renovated on the inside a few years ago, and is now quite modern and fancy.
There are comfy reading areas, lots of computers available, displays of hot titles and audiobooks right when you walk in, and glassed-in conference rooms. There are also vending machines, which seems a bit odd given the “No food in the library!” rules I grew up with.
Unlike any of the other branches we’ve been to, the Murphy-Wilmot branch also alphabetizes their board books by author, which is rather brave.
This branch of the library is located centrally (near Park Place and St. Joseph’s Hospital) and is one of the bigger branches, so it’s always busy.
The board at the front has tons of events posted, and an extra bathroom, which is always handy.
We haven’t gone to any story times at this branch, but you can find a full list of story time options and events here.
