Fast-casual restaurant franchise, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, recently broke ground on the northwest corner of S. Houghton Road and E. Old Vail Road. Slated to open before the end of 2015, it will be the third Tucson location for the chain. Other area locations include 7120 E. Broadway and 3725 W. Orange Grove Rd. (in Marana).
“It is the support of our guests that allows us to continue our expansion throughout Tucson,” said Brad Williams, franchise owner and operator. “We hope this new location will help make Freddy’s a convenient option for the southeast Tucson metro market.”
The 3,300 square-foot building will seat 100, with additional seating available on the patio. Drive-thru service will be available. Menu items include lean-beef steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, and shoestring fries, as well as an assortment of dessert treats prepared with freshly-churned chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.
“For those who may not yet be familiar with Freddy’s, a steakburger has characteristics similar to a hamburger, but a steakburger is lean premium beef pressed thin to create deliciously crispy edges,” Williams says. “It’s a traditional mid-western style of cooking. Additionally, frozen custard is similar to ice cream, but frozen custard is denser, richer, and creamier, due to a churning process that eliminates ice crystals and excess air.”
