Tucson is a gorgeous, sun-drenched city with mountains in every direction and a moderate climate for most of the year. That being said, the summer months are sweltering with temperatures in the 90's and early 100's! Thank goodness for air-conditioning...and splash pads!

We're pleased that the Town of Marana has a brand new splash pad in the works with a planned opening of this summer.

Below you will find the inside scoop in an interview with Rodney Campbell, Town of Marana Public Information Officer.

Q. Where exactly will the new splash pad be located?

A. In North Marana at the site of the Town’s Heritage River Park, near the Gladden Farms community.

Q. How many square feet will it be?

A. 4,500.

Q. How will the Marana splash pad compare in size and scope to the other splash pads in the Tucson metro area?

A. The most unique feature about the Town’s splash pad is that it will carry a farm theme, with water features that look like tractors, windmills, and watering cans. The Town is proud of its agrarian history and looks forward to putting it on display in this project.

Q. Has construction already started? If not, what is the official date of the groundbreaking?

A. Construction hasn’t started. Ground should be broken in the next month.

Q. What is the expected opening date?

A. It will open this summer, just in time for people to cool down during the hottest time of year.

Q. What will be the cost to use the splash pad?

A. The splash pad will be free. We want this to be a community amenity.

Q. How can I stay up-to-date on the latest news about the splash pad?

A. LIKE the Town of Marana on Facebook; FOLLOW the Town of Marana on Twitter.
