My two-year-old daughter and I go to the library a lot. We go to several different east-side libraries, but our favorite by far is the Kirk-Bear Canyon branch.
Sometimes I drop her off at grandma's house and go to read there alone. There are lots of comfy sitting areas and quiet corners, which make it perfect for reading in peace. There's also a nice computer lab that's never too crowded.
When she is with me, we usually go to story time. Mr. Bill does a great job with the kids, and I like that toddler story time (designed for ages 18-36 months) is both Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which means that we have flexibility in choosing which day we go. There is also a cute little reading area with small tables and chairs where we go to read books afterward; and there are several racks of puppets nearby for lots of playful fun!
This branch of the library is always clean, well-lit, and never too crowded. Its sprawling layout means that you can always find a quiet corner to sit alone, or join others in the kid area. The librarians have always been very helpful and it conveniently has 2 sets of restrooms - one near the computer lab and one just by the entrance and the story time room.
Be sure to check out the Event Calendar, where you'll find lots of fun ongoing activities including the Lego Club, Canyon Quilters, and Read to a Dog.
