Want to know how to judge a great wine? Kief-Joshua Vineyards is pleased to offer one TucsonTopia reader a Private Wine Tasting for 8 people!
In your private “Wine Tasting 101” class, you and seven friends will learn the proper techniques of wine tasting. You’ll become familiar with 12 fresh aromas that are present in the different varietals that Kief-Joshua utilizes in winemaking as well as the barrel-aging process. As you familiarize yourself with the scents, you’ll then try to identify the aromas using your “smell memory,” stimulating a fun and open discussion on wine flavor characteristics.
Never been to Kief-Joshua Vineyards? Located approximately 75 minutes southeast of Tucson, it’s a small family business with 20 acres in beautiful Elgin and 40 acres in Willcox Wine Country. The Elgin tasting room is open daily from 11:00am to 5:00pm and is situated right in the middle of what is know as “winery row.”
Note that if you choose to stop in for a wine tasting on Sunday between 11:00am and 1:00pm, you can pay an additional $8 to enjoy the Omelet Bar Bistro. Take a seat in the patio, the upstairs loft, or the tasting room – and enjoy Chef Steven’s creations.
Owned and operated by Kief Joshua Manning, the winery is known for its elegant stone building and environmentally-friendly practices. The vineyard is 100% free of pesticides and herbicides. Kief-Joshua is also committed to sustainable farming techniques, such as composting, planting cover crops and other plant species to avoid soil erosion, and integrating animals to naturally enhance biodiversity and nutrient recycling.
