Summer Reading Programs in Tucson 2023

Tucson Summer Reading Programs

Put your nose in a book this summer...and earn prizes along the way!

Several Tucson bookstores and libraries offer fun reading programs during the summer months where your children can participate in events and earn rewards.

PIMA COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Pima County Public Library Summer Reading program typically runs in June and July of each year.

BOOKMANS KIDS CLUB AND READ 10, GET 1

This isn't strictly for the summer months, but you'll want to know about the Bookmans Kids Club. Any child from birth up to age 12 can sign up for the club to receive a 10% store discount...PLUS a $10 gift certificate on his/her birthday.

Similarly, teens (ages 13 to 17) can register for 1317 - a special club that will get them a 15% store discount and a $15 birthday gift certificate.

ALSO - For every 10 books you read, Bookmans will give you one free. What’s the catch? Your child must write a short report for each book. When the 10 book reports are finished, bring them to your favorite Bookmans and SHAZAM - you'll get to pick out a new-to-you book!

There are three Bookmans locations in Tucson - EAST: 6230 E. Speedway Blvd. (Speedway & Wilmot), NORTHWEST: 3733 W. Ina Rd (Ina & Thornydale), and MIDTOWN: 3330 E. Speedway Blvd (Speedway & Country Club).

BARNES & NOBLE SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The 2023 Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is free and open to grades 1-6. Here's how it works: Read any eight books this summer and record them in your Summer Reading Journal. Describe which part of the book is your favorite (and why). Bring your completed journal to any Barnes & Noble store between July 1 - August 31st and choose a FREE book from select titles.

There are two Barnes & Noble Tucson stores - Eastside (5130 E. Broadway) and Westside (7325 N. LaCholla Blvd).
