The Arizona Aerospace Foundation currently operates the Pima Air & Space Museum, the Titan Missile Museum, and the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame.

The Titan Missile Museum officially opened to the public in 1986 - and it is the only remaining Titan II site.

Visitors of the museum are brought on a journey through time to learn what it was like to stand on the front line of the Cold War. The Titan Missile Museum is the preserved Titan II missile site, officially known as complex 571-7. It is the only site that remains of the 54 that were on alert across the country from 1963 to 1987.

Where is the Titan Missile Museum located?

The Titan Missile Museum is located just south of Tucson in Green Valley at 1580 W. Duval Mine Road.

What are the hours?

The museum is open every day, except Thanksgiving and Christmas. 45-minute tours start every hour on the hour. The first tour begins at 10:00am and the last tour leaves at 4:00pm. During peak season, additional tours are offered on the half hour. Call 520-625-7736 to confirm your schedule before you go.

Why would I visit the Titan Missile Museum?

To learn about the Cold War era firsthand by visiting the last remaining Titan II missile silo!

The US was forced to dispose of 53 other missile sites across the country, but was allowed to keep one site standing for historical purposes. The 45-minute tour includes a visit to the underground control center, a 6-story view of the missile in its silo, and a simulated missile launch. After the tour, you can walk through the "topside" area (outside, above ground) and see the missile security along with dozens of other exhibits, including the missile’s engines and refueling trucks.

What is the parking situation?

Free parking is offered at the Titan Missile Museum.

What should I wear?

Comfortable shoes and casual clothes are perfect for the museum. You'll be walking down (and then back up) 55 metal stairs to get to the access portal so no flowy skirts or high heels.

What is the tour like?

On the tour, you'll descend 35 feet into the underground missile complex. You'll visit the launch control center and experience a simulated launch of the missile. Then, you'll journey down the cableway to level 2 of the missile silo to get an up-close look at the Titan II missile. Finally, you'll stand on top of the launch duct and look down on the Titan II missile from above.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO ELEVATOR FOR USE ON THE TOUR.

What should I bring with me?

Bring a bottle of water. Water is the only food/drink item that is allowed on the tour.

Are bathrooms available?

Bathrooms are available in the main building before your tour. There are no bathrooms on the tour.

Which days of the week are the most and least crowded?

Weekends and holidays are most crowded, but the online reservation system shows when tours are still available.

DINING

Is outside food allowed? Are picnic tables available?

No food or drink (except water) is allowed on the tour. There are small snacks and candy available in the gift shop that can be consumed in the main building before the tour.

What restaurants are located NEAR the Titan Missile Museum?

Since the museum is located in an unincorporated area with an address in Green Valley, your best bet is to dine in Green Valley or Sahuarita. Try one of the below restaurants, which are within 3 miles of the museum.

BABIES & KIDS

What ages would be best suited for a visit to the Titan Missile Museum?

Older children (ages 8 and up) or those very interested in history would enjoy this museum. Younger children may get bored and the surroundings could be dangerous if they wander off.

Is the tour easy for kids to understand?

The docents talk to the kids on the tour and get them involved in the simulated missile launch. There is a Junior Missileer notebook the kids can pick up near the front door and work on throughout the tour. It has puzzles, trivia, and information about the museum.

Should I bring a stroller?

Because of the stairs used to get to and from the tour, a stroller is not a good idea.

Is there a designated area for nursing moms?

There is not a designated area for nursing moms, but there is a quiet hallway with chairs in between the bathrooms and the briefing room.

Are changing tables available?

No. There are no changing tables at the museum.

What else do I need to know before I go to the Tucson Missile Museum?

  • Please leave your pets at home. Only service animals are allowed on the tour.
  • The Titan Missile Museum is an ADA compliant facility. Handicapped parking is available and the Exhibits Gallery and all restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Please note, however, that guests are required to ascend and descend 55 stair steps for the daily 45-minute tours. There is no elevator access. Visits made by guests unable to use the stairs will be limited to the surface portion of the site. Visitors on the 45-minute guided tour will be standing and walking for the duration of the tour.
