The Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library, which opened in 2008, is a 21,164 square foot library that serves the communities of Marana and Northwest Tucson. More than 267,000 people visit this library ever year!

This popular library features a children's area, teen area, two meeting rooms, and two glassed-in study rooms.

There are two glassed-in study rooms (four people maximum) that are available to reserve 2 hrs. each week on a first-come, first-served basis.

How many meeting rooms are there?

Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library has two meetings.

There is a large community meeting room, which holds 80 people and features a sink, a TV and DVD player, and induction loop technology.

There is also a separate children’s meeting room, which holds 86 people and has a sink.

Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library does not have a snack bar, vending machines, or café, however there are restaurants nearby. See below.

The library is small and walking will be minimal so a stroller is probably unnecessary.

No. That said, there are comfortable chairs located throughout the library.

Are changing tables available?

Yes – there are two changing rooms in this Library: one in each large, gender-neutral restroom.

Is there a children’s area?

Yes. The Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library has a fabulous children’s area! It features books, audiobooks, music CDs, and magazines to check out. There are 12 computers for kids to play games on. Families can easily check out their own materials (kids love to scan materials themselves!) using the two self check-out units. The “Librainium” features hands on interactive stations for little ones to explore and develop skills. Finally, kid friendly furniture and round tables with chairs provide an atmosophere conducive to reading to a dog or doing homework.

Is there a teen area?

Yes. The teen space offers a safe and comfortable space away from the center of the Library. Four computers allow teens to easily collaborate on gaming or homework. Two round tables with chairs encourage reading and homework, and there is easy access to teen fiction, displays, and all sorts of information for young adults.

Can I have my child’s birthday party, wedding reception, or corporate meeting at the Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library?

The Wheeler Taft Abbett Sr. Library has one large meeting room that holds 75 people. The room can be used at no charge “for organizations engaged in educational, cultural, civic, intellectual, or charitable activities.” Contact the library directly with any specific questions or special requests.
