Congratulations! You have a new baby on the way. Parenthood is a grand adventure and so much joy lies ahead of you.
Since you are newly pregnant or anticipating an upcoming adoption, you may want to set up a baby registry sometime over the next few months.
A baby registry will allow your family members, friends, and coworkers to purchase much-needed maternity, baby, and postpartum items for you and your expanding family.
In Tucson, there are five different stores where you can register in-person for baby clothing, nursery furniture, books, and gear.
The process generally works like this. You make an appointment to set up a free baby registry (*you may be able to walk in during non-busy seasons). You will then download an app on your phone where you can quickly and easily scan items that you need and/or want for baby's arrival. You can add almost anything - board books, baby carriers, car seats, onesies, rockers, and strollers. Your family members and friends can then search for and purchase items that you have pre-selected.
There are four Bed Bath & Beyond locations in Tucson:
Bed Bath & Beyond offers an established baby registry with plentiful inventory and a few perks. When you register, you'll receive a free goody bag with samples and coupons. The store also offers a 10% completion discount, which allows you to purchase the items on your list at that discount.
Although you may think of Bed Bath & Beyond as a bath & bedding store, you can find lots of baby gear both in their stores and online - strollers, car seats, monitors, baby bath tubs, diaper bags, carriers, booster seats, toys, and clothing. As a bonus, you can also add registry items that aren't solely in the baby realm like a new coffeemaker, a blender, or a cozy throw blanket.

Mildred & Dildred, a locally owned toy shop at Pima & Swan, does not have a formal baby registry with all of the bells & whistles. That being said, they have a delightful and whimsical selection of unique, handmade, and beautiful toys, books, and games. If you prefer to stay hyper local and support a local shop, you can go into the store and request a "baby basket." Essentially, you'll pick out items that you like and put them in a basket. Your baby shower guests can then come to the store and request your particular basket from which they can select a gift. Mildred & Dildred is locally owned and offers complimentary gift wrapping services.

They also offer a limited price match guarantee, which includes competitors like Amazon and Walmart.
Another great perk is that Target offers maternity clothing, nursing bras, postpartum care items, prenatal vitamins, and other products you may want before and after your pregnancy.

In addition to the above options, there are a number of registries available online. We, however, recommend that you register and shop local. Even if you choose a national retailer, by choosing to register at one in our community, you are helping to keep local dollars here in Tucson.
Quick note: Babies R Us closed in Tucson in 2018 and Kids Center (a local toy & gift shop) closed in 2019.
Again, congratulations on your new baby! Warmest wishes from the entire TucsonTopia staff!
